Cozy Bedrooms

Love these cozy bedrooms with vintage touches and soft colours. The bedcovers and pillows are all in wrinkled cotton and linen...a look that just adds to the cozy look of the bed! What I think is really interesting is the bedrooms with no headboards and we seem to be seeing more of this now. A clean look that requires a bit more styling around the bed but that puts the focus on the other accessories in the room. that being said a gorgeous headboard like the white antique bed sure look amazing!

Loft in Amsterdam

The Loft is an amazing concept in Amsterdam that has such an original idea around it! Basically it is a showroom where you can buy whatever is in the space...and I mean everything. A lot of natural materials, modern, rustic and industrial....mixed with an incredibly refined eye...not for the faint of heart as it looks effortless but really isn't. The idea is very much like The Apartment by the Line in New York (which is stunning as well). The loft is run by The Playing Circle group and they have other lofts and apartments around the city with various looks that they rent as great meeting or event spaces. Go check it out here...

Black and White Decor with Style

Lots of style in this home decorated in black and white..the outside is black as well by the way....bordering on industrial with a rustic twist. Great kitchen with the black hood and dark grout used with the white subway tiles....and can we talk about the black leather jacket with the ruffles!!! Please I need that jacket and now! How cute is that!

New Year, New Look + new inspirations

Well one of my resolutions for this year was to redo my website..... so here it is! What do you think? I started working on the new site last November and although there are still a few bugs, I must say I am pretty happy with the way it looks.

My goals for the blog this year are more videos, more how to's, and more collaborations with other bloggers. As a ceramic artist I resolved to try new designs in my work and collaborate with other artists on some interesting products. For my home it is to redo my upstairs bathroom and clean out every last closet in my house! I think these are all good and attainable goals don't you?

The biggest one for me though is to learn to step back from life and breath...to enjoy every day, without judging it ......it is after all a journey as they say.

Some talented women that are inspiring me for 2015...

Sunday Suppers is a communal cooking centre in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The website and Instagram of the very talented Karen Mordechai are not only visually inspiring but the beautiful suppers in the Sunday Suppers studios look like wonderful gatherings of food and community.

Line Kays blog that I featured a couple of weeks ago Vintagepiken is a huge source of inspiration. Her sense of style and her photos really speak to me. White, moody mixed with rustic styling…so lovely.

This year I discovered the work of Dietland Wolf, stylist, photographer and ceramic artist and am endlessly inspired by all of her work.. So creative in all that she does, her ceramics have the wonderful organic quality that I love but with a refined yet complex glazing technique that brings them to a whole other level.

New Website - Coming Soon!

Just to let you know my new website is launching in the next day or so! There may be a few bugs here and there so let me know if you encounter anything as you scroll through the site. I would love your feedback as well! Let me know what you would like to see for 2015 and what you think of the new layout.

Thanks and here's to a fresh start for 2015!

A sneak peak for you!

Stylish Swedish Home

A beautiful Swedish apartment with white and dark tones mixed throughout. The colours inside the apartment look like they reflect somewhat the brick tones in the apartment seen outside the window..very rich and warm. A charming kids room with pastel pompoms and check out the number of lamps used in the rooms. Lovely styling..

Brooklyn Brownstone

This brownstone featured in The New York Times is one of many in the area consistently used for photo shoots, commercials and ads....and you can see why! What a beauty! The high ceilings, moldings and incredible floors are just a few of the original details that make this space so desirable. The modern kitchen set against the high windows and the ceiling with that superb medallion....I will be looking out for this beauty in my design magazines!!

Bedroom Benches

Benches (or couches) really finish the look of a room. I would love to have a bench at the end of my bed but you do need a fair size room to get this look. Some of these gorgeous benches would fit in a smaller space like the wooden one in the first photo. I love how they styled the bench in this picture but it would have looked equally good without anything on it at all. I love the couch designer Christine Dovey added to the end of the bed in the second photo. The entire room is beautifully done.

What type of bench would you add to a bedroom?

Inspired Space, Beautiful Blog

I am in love with the gorgeous blog of stylist/photographer Line Kay of Vintagepiken. Her home is styled to perfection and her photographs are so beautiful! Really I could look at her blog over and over. It is peaceful and thoughtful, creative and inspired..just like her home. You must go and look at her photos not only of her home but of the many wonderful ways she styles food, flowers.....and just about everything else with the utmost taste and sophistication.
