Everygirl Home Tour

I just wanted to share this video home tour from the co-founder of Everygirl, Alaina Kaczmarski. This is a dream greystone located in Chicago. There are so many amazing features in this home so keep an eye out for these as you watch:

1. Front entry tile in black and white

2. The mirror over the fireplace and the crystal chandelier in the living room

3. The gorgeous wall of pictures beside the fireplace

4. The book shelves on the wall with the lamps over top in brass in the living room

5. The play of black and white flowing throughout the home moves from one room into the next

6. Two cute pups :)

7. The use of the black and white prints, photos and the black and white art throughout the home

8. The many gorgeous rugs in each room.

The Apartment by The Line

I have mentioned The Apartment by The Line before on the blog but I had never visited it on previous trips to New York. My daughter has gone several times and posted pictures on her Instagram (check out her account here - its amazing!). So we braved the cold and visited on Friday morning hoping it would be open…some days are by appointment only. Luckily the Director of The Apartment, a wonderful, knowledgeable and gracious woman, let us in and allowed us to wander and take photos . The Apartment is set up to look just like someone's home but every piece is available for purchase, including the gorgeous clothes in the closet. Truly it is a dream apartment from the architecture to the furnishings to the photos on the walls. A must see the next time you are in New York.

Dressed in Black

Black is everywhere in home decor these days and of course fashion as always. I am really loving the black I am seeing in home decor and ceramics. I actually made a few pieces of black ceramics this week and I loved it! Love all of these pins I posted on Pinterest this week. You can follow me here....

Modern Greenwich Village Home

This is the Greenwich Village home of designing Ariel Ashe featured in Domino Magazine. Such a pretty modern home but with many of the original architectural elements that give it a bit of the old world feel. Nice pops of red here and there against a great black and white base. Love the gallery wall and the way she has done the curtains in the living room emphasising the high ceilings.

Pins of the Week: Black and Gold

I am so into black kitchens, bathrooms and just about everything else including pottery. Not sure how someone that loves white so much could suddenly be so intrigued by all the dark decor out there but I am! I also love black when it is paired with white and when it is paired with gold. A touch of luxury to be sure.

Black, White and Toffee

I have posted about this colour combination before and I love it so much.This toffee colour usually comes in some form of wood, leather or rattan and it works so well off black and white. These are some super examples here of how you can incorporate it into your home.

Black and White Modern

A very chic, modern home from Est Magazine that is completely done in black, white and grey. I love the use of the black tile on the wall in the kitchen and in the bathroom...and the back stove as well..so nice.

Black Sinks and Tubs

Black and white bathrooms are such a classic look but black sinks or tubs is a really bold choice. Not always easy to maintain but incredibly stunning there may be a tradeoff to make...so do not put one in your kitchen or bathroom until you are sure! Having a white sink on a dark counter or a white tub with a black base though is a good way to compromise and get the look. The washstand look of some of these sinks is also a fun new way to go in a more casual space.

Black Kitchens

I posted about moody rooms the other day and as I was going through Pinterest I saw so many black kitchens....and you know what..I love them. I always design white kitchens and in my own home I can't wait to make my kitchen all white...but that being said there is really something to combining the look. The black cupboards with the white backsplash is super sophisticated and what about the natural wood cabinets with the small tile in black. that is not a combination I thought I would like but it really works here.

What do you think? White and  black or white and wood....
