Interiors: Glass Walls

If I was building a home today especially a condo or loft I would try to incorporate a glass wall. These are really brilliant don't you think? They let the light come through but block some of the noise and more importantly they add an element of design that is very chic. I think it would be great for a kitchen...you can see the action but your guests don't have to hear the noise you are making in the kitchen..the fan...the dishwasher etc...I especially love the black metal or the rough steel. Gorgeous!

Inspiration in White: Pretty Workspace

Some pretty pins to start the week. Loving these workspaces that have wonderful storage...some of it from Ikea no less. Very feminine with lots of inspiration boards and books with files and businessy things tucked away. I also like the tables with the sawhorse legs which I also did in my own studio. They look pretty well perfect to me!

Black and White in Denmark

Lovely home in Denmark with a black exterior that is really striking....what is it with me and black lately...mmmm must be my mood...but I just find it is a classic and when used in the right situation in a home can be so gorgeous. The pop of yellow from the chandelier is fun and the more fussy nature of the light looks good against the stark background. I have a chandelier very similar to this one in my hallway that I bought at the New York 25th street flea market years ago. Such a simple home but so well put together and photographed by Mikkel Adsbøl

Island Home

This is a dream home on Harbour Island and can I tell you it is....well I find it an amazing WOW! It feels delicate, beachy, refined, colourful and all white at the same time. The walls and ceiling are so perfect with the white washed wood and the great marble floor. The touches of coral throughout the home is so beautiful and what about the kitchen. Such a good idea to add that gold and white wallpaper. Really just perfect!!

Beautiful Bar Carts

Everywhere you look in decor magazines these days there seems to be a bar cart of some sort set up in the room....the living room, hallway, kitchen...any small or large space seems to be the "ideal" place to put a bar cart. I prefer to set up my bar area in my bay window area. I never leave it there but just set it up as a bar when I entertain. I also set one up outdoors on a large wire plant stand to accommodate my guests that are sitting on the terrace. I like a bar cart that doesn't look like a bar cart...although there are some vintage bamboo ones that are so fun...but I like a table or buffet even more. The trunk in one of these pictures is a great idea and so is the metal cart..a fun and quirky spot for a bar.

Black Sinks and Tubs

Black and white bathrooms are such a classic look but black sinks or tubs is a really bold choice. Not always easy to maintain but incredibly stunning there may be a tradeoff to make...so do not put one in your kitchen or bathroom until you are sure! Having a white sink on a dark counter or a white tub with a black base though is a good way to compromise and get the look. The washstand look of some of these sinks is also a fun new way to go in a more casual space.

Floral Walls

I am loving wallpaper these days and this floral wallpaper is so pretty...almost traditional but used in the right way it adds a quirky, retro feel to a room. I think floral paper looks best with other patterns..not too much floral in one space but I love the way it has been done in the first photo. Bright on the chair with a gorgeous botanical on the wall and a pretty botanical in the frame. Very sweet.

Sag Harbor Home

Love this home from Lonny Magazine that is pretty much a beach house dream. All light and airy with plenty of white up to the beams and down to the floor. Rustic touches with a little nautical add the cottage feel to this Sag Harbour hideaway. The back of the house with the pool really does it for me...great spot to spend a weekend.

Have a lovely weekend!!

Beautiful Mirrors Over Furniture

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I hang or lean mirrors all over my house and I have at least one mirror in every room.  I find it adds light, reflection and a bit of shine. I really love hanging mirrors over consoles or buffets or any kind of furniture really. I never hang my mirrors too high as I want them to be part of the grouping below as you can see in the first photo....which is in my dining room. I also love it when the mirror is really large compared to the furniture it is hanging above. Super tall or as wide as the furniture it makes a statement every time and is always a focal point in the room.

Renovation Redux

This wonderful 90 year old home needed a major renovation that no one wanted to tackle. Eventually bought by a young family with many craftsmen in the family to help them along the way.  They did a lovely job keeping some of the original features and changing when necessary. The hallway tile that was moved from another room in the house is from the 20's and vintage lamps, mirrors and furniture are found throughout the space. Love the olive tree in the hallway!
