This is a lovely beach home in California. Wonderful whites, blues and neutral colours. Rattan with wood and stone...the perfect mix of easy natural materials that create an comfortable, cozy environment. I really love the red and white bedroom! The views are really incredible.....ahh yes I will keep posting summer homes all winter just to remind me that spring will come!!

Muskoka Living

Muskoka Living is a 25,000 sq ft retail and design space in Port Carling, Ontario. This is just one of the homes from their website and there are many more just as beautiful! Oh I really love this place! It is really just what I would want in a country home...or any home for that matter! So fresh and light, antiques and vintage and of course a car ( a Porche, not just a car) in the house. The choice of creamy whites and bright whites is just perfect with a touch of black and some shiny silver and grey. This should get your weekend off to a great start!
Enjoy!

Designer Apartment

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

This is the slightly odd but strangely beautiful apartment of fashion designer Frank Leder. A home with the most amazing architectural details from fabulous molded ceilings to the gorgeous herringbone floors.....Really everything is so interesting in this place! Jars and jars of what I am not sure, covering several surfaces and then there is the pile of chairs in the dining room...super creative and eclectic! Every room has such a great ceiling lamp as well. Take a slow look at each room not to miss a detail!

Enjoy!

English Farmhouse

I have always loved this farmhouse look...very relaxed, mixed vintage and antique. What is great with this house is a bit of the mid-century thrown in as well. The kitchen is not at all traditional, with a big table as the island and a large freestanding armoire as the storage space....and of course a Smeg fridge! This farmhouse is in Sussex, England and it really has the wonderful features of an old English house don't you think. The beams are just amazing and add such warmth and character. Hope your week has started off well!

Inspiration in White: Fireplaces

Well the temperature has really dipped the past two weeks and I even saw the first snow today! We have started lighting the fireplace again and that got me thinking about what I can do to decorate around that space for the next few months. There are so many gorgeous styles from Swedish tile fireplaces, to stone, to painted brick to inspire. I am wondering though is it sometimes better to keep the decor around a fireplace simple. A large mirror above it and then....nothing on the mantle...It looks so good like that but I just can't bring myself to leave it empty! What about you? Do you decorate above the mantle for every season or do you keep the decor clean and simple around your fireplace?

Enjoy!

Super Studio Apartment

This studio is small on space but big on style! I love the way the designers somehow made an entrance, a bedroom, living room and kitchen, not to mention an island to eat at in this tiny 400 sq ft Brooklyn apartment. So clever! The entry has an Ikea table with two big oversize lamps that work so well in the space making it feel bigger rather than smaller. Same with the full size couch..it actually makes the room seem longer. The lathe panels incorporate a bit of texture and style while creating a small area around the bed that lets the light filter through. Now this is the way to live well in a small space!

Simple Styling

It is amazing how even when I am not trying to find a Scandinavian style home I somehow fall upon one anyway. Today as I was researching for my post tonight I came upon one of the pictures below and went looking to find out more information about it. Sure enough I came upon the website of the Dutch stylist Kim Timmerman....a talented woman that does production, styling and concepts for homes. Her eye is amazing when styling the various homes you see on her site...really great detail and I love how the website is broken down by colour so you can look at homes that have touches that are pink, yellow, white and many more. This house is so great with greys, a bit of brown and white. So many fun details in the home as well with the writing on the clear glass kitchen door and the mini cozy bedroom, cool lamps and pictures put up with washi tape. Very talented indeed!

Enjoy!

Cozy Apartment in Sweden

Pretty little apartment in Sweden with one of the wonderful ceramic tile fireplaces I love so much. Doesn't it give the  look of this room a cozy feeling? Nice contrast of dark and light in this home with a touch of wood throughout. The apartments I find in Sweden all seem to have the most incredible light and nice tall windows...always lots of reflection with pale floors and white walls for a nice clean and simple look!

Enjoy!

Blue and White Ginger Jars and More

I have a small collection of Asian inspired blue and white pieces in my home. A white ceramics stool, blue and white ginger jars and pots and I put them all together either around my fireplace or on my bay window in the living room. I love the look so much I really would love to have more pieces...it also looks so great when blue and white are mixed in various patterns, with different fabrics or rugs. The first photo is from my home featuring lookslikewhite ceramics. In the other photos you can see that blue and white ginger jars, pots and stools mix beautifully with contemporary, modern and traditional designs.

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Swedish Style

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I have a love for Swedish or Gustavian style. My blog friend Catherine over at Gris Foncé  once emailed to ask if there was any place in Montreal where she could buy furniture and accessories in a Swedish style and I had to say...Noooo..not easy to find here in Montreal (she has a little post up right now about that conversation and her take on Swedish style here). I have also talked about how much I want a Mora clock and have had many conversations with Jo Lee from Swedish Interior Design, who sells a wonderful collection and has the most amazing home that I blogged about here. Truly spectacular!! I go over and visit his site to check out the furniture and clocks and pick out ones that I would love to have in my home.  So until I get the chance to collect some wonderful Swedish antiques I collect photos of my favourite Swedish homes here on Pinterest..

Enjoy!
