Layers of Style

Very often I see a single picture of a house on Pinterest and think....oh this is so good the rest of the house must be amazing...Well this home was one I wished I could see the rest of and here it is! Such fantastic details and so well styled because it is the home of the wonderful interior stylist Johanna Flyckt Gashi from Hus and Hem. So many things to love in this cottage because there are layers and layers of incredible vintage accessories....like the locker in the office with a vintage style chair and lamp. The living room with the layers of great pillows and funky lamps and what about that kitchen! Layers of dishes, lamps and fun writing on the blackboard. This is seriously a great home.

Stylish Victorian

Love the industrial style kitchen in this home in England. The lights are just perfect over the metal table with a fun punch of yellow! The map is a great touch in the kitchen pulling in some other bright colours. The living is all muted greys and pastels with a wonderful wallpaper in the entry. The grey on the walls is great in the bedrooms with the colourful headboard and skirt in both rooms.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Domino Magazine: Colour Issue

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

The latest issue of Domino Magazine is all about colour and boy is it gorgeous! Of course, where there is colour there needs to be lots of white because colour always looks best against the crispness of white walls and fabrics. I love the way colour is used in these rooms...great wall art, bright printed cushions and rich carpets.

Super stylish rooms and accessories are featured throughout the magazine...as you know it is one of my favourites...and even better now you can download the new app! Yes, you can download the app onto your ipad and browse the articles and shop away...yes you can buy so much of what you see in the mag..on the website..just search in Domino Magazine in iTunes.

Country Home of Sarah Richardson

This home of Sarah Richardson is not new but it is still really good! All done in pale watery colours of green and blue, this home is on the water and so it fits so perfectly with the surroundings. Sarah always puts so many great fabrics in lots of different patterns but they always work so well together. And the mix of colours and tiles in the kitchen are so beautiful....

Don't you love the vintage red and white quilt on the bed? The life raft on the wall is such a clever idea..actually the whole house is full of fun ideas and it would be so easy to add some of these touches to your own home.

Stylish Loft

This is the home of the East Village apartment of stylist Anthony D'Argenzio featured in Lonny Magazine. I love the sweet vintage furnishings mixed with great mid-century pieces. The apartment was completely renovated and recycled materials were used here and there....I am so loving the subway tiles... which I think are having a major comeback...especially since they take up the whole wall space. Of course the open shelving also looks so good. White washed brick and the pickled floors complete the wonderful look in this beautiful space.

Yellow, Black and White

Love this little apartment in Sweden with white walls and black and yellow accents! Wonderful texture and patterns make this home sweet and fun...this is for the young at heart for sure. Nice open plan floor layout with a big, bright kitchen and office space nestled in between the living space and eating area. Another great Swedish home to inspire me!

Sorry for the sporatic posting these days. A lot of family issues with aging parents that are keeping us very busy these days. We were lucky enough to get away for a few days to the south which was a welcome relief from these difficult times. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Naturally Modern

Another great spread in Vogue Living magazine featuring a converted 70's style home. Done with all natural materials the outdoors and indoors blend seamlessly with large open doors and windows. Lots of natural and stained woods are used in this stylish modern home, as well as concrete on the floors and stone in the bathroom. Don't you just love that bathroom sink!! Of course there is the amazing twig chandelier in the dining room...really so many fantastic elements in this house...

Lake House

This incredible lake house from House Beautiful is the home of designer Thom Filicia. From the cool boat house on the water to the cozy kitchen this house feels just so easy and relaxed. Even with lots of cool layers and layers of accessories the view is really the star in this show and he makes the most of it. A low couch in the living room keeps the window wide open to better see the view and even the bed faces out toward the lake. So pretty with a mix of prints and colours throughout all on a base of creamy white.

French Country Lodge

This beautiful country house, built in 1652, in Normandy France was once a hunting lodge. Owned by a local farmer for years, the home had not been renovated and that was just perfect for designer Charles Spada. he took this jewel and turned it into a gorgeous castle! It had almost all of the original features intact and all he had to do was fill it with antiques . Check the amazing chandeliers, amazing prints and fabulous plates on the dining room wall. Love....but really the best piece is the leopard settee...oh I want that...So Good! Really a country house in France is my dream...maybe some day...

Inspiration in White: White Brick

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I love texture on walls and white brick is the most wonderful texture of all....yes I like untouched red brick but a white brick wall has so much life and is well the perfect backdrop. It doesn't need much on it..though a great mirror or a group of frames can look amazing..but just the texture with no adornment can be wonderfully simple and warm. The look can be perfect from an industrial style room to shabby chic and a bedroom to a kitchen. So...don't be scared..get out the paint brush and go for it!
