French Country Lodge

This beautiful country house, built in 1652, in Normandy France was once a hunting lodge. Owned by a local farmer for years, the home had not been renovated and that was just perfect for designer Charles Spada. he took this jewel and turned it into a gorgeous castle! It had almost all of the original features intact and all he had to do was fill it with antiques . Check the amazing chandeliers, amazing prints and fabulous plates on the dining room wall. Love....but really the best piece is the leopard settee...oh I want that...So Good! Really a country house in France is my dream...maybe some day...

Inspiration in White: White Brick

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I love texture on walls and white brick is the most wonderful texture of all....yes I like untouched red brick but a white brick wall has so much life and is well the perfect backdrop. It doesn't need much on it..though a great mirror or a group of frames can look amazing..but just the texture with no adornment can be wonderfully simple and warm. The look can be perfect from an industrial style room to shabby chic and a bedroom to a kitchen. So...don't be scared..get out the paint brush and go for it!

Family Home, High Design

This wonderful California home of actor Patrick Demspey from Architectural Digest is really gorgeous. This is one of Frank Gehry's early homes that has been renovated and adapted into this perfect family compound. Full of interesting furniture and design elements that transcend any one design style, this home feels organic and modern with old world touches that add to its warmth. I love the wall of wood around the fireplace, the concrete counters in the kitchen and rough wood floors and headboard in the bedroom. Really beautiful.

Hope you all had a great week. I was on vacation this past week in Mexico and had a wonderful vacation! I will do a post on Tuesday with a bit of what I saw and some of the incredible restaurants we went to in Mexico City.

Gorgeous Malibu Home

In this home of a film director and stylist you would expect nothing less than the tasteful decor you find in this Malibu home (Elle Decoration features this home- more photos here). The front of the home is made from barn wood brought in from Maine. The glass doors on the main floor open up to give the home an indoor/outdoor feeling and what about that gorgeous marble floor in the living room. Stunning! Love the iron railing running around the second floor landing and down the stairs and of course the stone tub in the bathroom.....well to say this is a stylish home is just the beginning....

Good Book: Decorate With Flowers

I don't know about you but I could not live without fresh flowers in my home. Every couple of weeks my husband goes out to the market and buys a few bunches of flowers and we make bouquets throughout our home. He is the best at picking the freshest flowers and he is pretty good at arranging them too! I usually buy white flowers, but in the summer I love a bunch of bright flowers on the table or some of the fresh flowers, hydrangeas and peonies, from my garden.

I was so happy to see that Holly from Decor 8 had a new book out and it's all about how to decorate your home using flowers. I have her other books and I just love them and I also love her blog here. Such great ideas here on using different containers, putting together different flowers and decorating a space with flowers. There are tips on how to get playful with flowers and how to create arrangements that are uncomplicated and inexpensive without sacrificing style. Take a look at some of the images from the book and visit their website Decorate With Flowers here...

Beautiful Apartment in Spain

This apartment shown on Rue Daily today (photos by: Eric Cuvillier and Adria Goulais) is so gorgeous with the most amazing tile! I am in Mexico on vacation this week and I ate at a wonderful restaurant last night with the same type of tile. It gives so much warmth to a space and is such a great contrast to the white walls. I have also seen similar tile in black and white and would love to do a wall in this as well...wouldn't that be a wonderful accent in a bathroom or entry? Hope you are having a great weekend!

New Ceramics and Kitchens to Love

I have recently added some new ceramics to my Etsy site here...I am currently working with a new artist by the name of Marie-France Labrosse and she has created some wonderful pieces that I am now selling in my Etsy store. She has amazing talent and it is a pleasure to be able to get her work out there for people to see! When my pieces are in the process of creation and when they are being photographed (by Chloe Crane-Leroux) I always picture them in a certain setting...what kind of kitchen I see them in, what kind of table could I make with them and so on..which helps me imagine how the people will use them and gives me inspiration and new ideas. Here are some of the new ceramics in my store and a few wonderful kitchens that they would look great in...

Bright White

Beautiful house with pretty pale floors and a bright white interior. White with wood and touches of black throughout keeping it very simple on the accessories and the drama. I am really loving the plank headboard that would be so easy to make yourself! The dining room table is also great with the wooden sawhorse legs. So expensive if you buy a table like this at Restoration Hardware but again not difficult to make and it looks so chic and modern.

Vogue Living

I have already talked about the magazine Vogue Living but this March issue is the best yet! A wonderful mix of really incredible homes from around the world photographed by the most amazing photographers. (This spread is from photographer Michael Wee). I subscribe to Vogue through Zinio which I love..just get it in my in box and off I go. I do still like to read the paper version of many magazines though...something about the touch and feel of the paper that makes me happy (same for books!).

I love the home below as it has the elements I look for....modern with a mix of rustic vintage giving it a warm, cozy lived in feeling but with so much elegance. Beautiful!
