Industrial Vintage Style

I really like the mix of vintage and industrial style in this wonderful home in Normandy, France (an area that I love!) So many great things in these photos including the big clock in the living room, the light bulbs in a basket and take a look at the lighting everywhere...so clever and fun! Every room has something interesting and imaginative to look at...I think they love their home and it shows in the care they took in each room...what do you think?

I showed some of Henry Bourne's photographs earlier this week and I just can not get enough. I love the way he captures these amazing interiors..... So gorgeous this first photo with the black and white! What about these couches!!! I think there are a few different homes here but the styling, the angles and the light are all incredibly well done in all of the rooms. It is worth a visit to his website to see the wonderful work he is doing.

Enjoy!

Designer Home: Yvonne Koné

The home of accessories designer Yvonne Koné (her blog is so much fun) was recently featured in Est Magazine with pictures taken by the super talented photographer Line Klein. Her home feels so much like her accessories. So clean and spare but classic and refined. Her accessories are a beautiful quality and feel old and new at the same time....something that you would keep for years and never tire of...so beautiful..

Inspiration in White: Vintage Doors and Shutters

There are so many ways to use old doors and shutters in a home...and they always look good no matter what you do with them from....leaning them against a wall to using them as a headboard or actually installing them on a window or in a doorway. I have used a shutter as a headboard and as a screen and I have an old Victorian door in my shop that I changed to a mirror (bottom picture). They add character to a modern space and look fantastic surrounded by other vintage pieces. Are there other ways you have used old doors and shutters?

Grand Simplicity

The home of London designer Rose Uniacke is timeless in its simplicity and beauty. Lovely detailed architecture plays well against gorgeous antiques and modern pieces. This home is sooo sophisticated...golds, cream and white mixed with marble and wood give the home a calm and comfortable feeling even with the vastness of each space. So refined and classic that even the stools at the island in the kitchen have gold legs! What a beautiful job Rose has done with this home...

Crystal Chandeliers

What I like about crystal chandeliers is....well there is not much I don't like about crystal chandeliers (I like all chandeliers in general and have posted about them before HERE and HERE)....but what I find interesting is how they go in any space from formal and more contemporary to modern and vintage. I love them best when they are incorporated in the most unexpected decor. I mean you expect to see them in a more traditional home or with a shabby chic style but when they are in a very rustic home or used in a more industrial space with other industrial lighting, I am always delighted with the contrast. It is also great to see them used in an unusual area of the house like the pool cabana below. Love that extra touch of glamour!

London Townhouse

This renovated London terrace home has been opened up to create a living space that feels light and spacious. You still feel the age of the house but it has a wonderful modern feeling with clean, simple lines throughout. I think the terrace off the kitchen is really well done and the open lit shelf beside the fireplace that brings the living room and kitchen area together is such a great idea! What about that tub.... ahh, yes please...a great renovation for sure! Here is another post from a home in London...

Seaside Cottage

The Swedish nautical theme starts at the front door in this pretty seaside cottage, with a beautiful pale teal hat stand. The house, though mostly white, continues with shades of blue throughout the home creating a wonderful continuity. Shells, palms and driftwood add just the right touch to finalize the theme. The little desk at the bottom of the stairs is so sweet and all of the painted cabinets are just perfect in the space. The floor is a high gloss industrial paint adding a bit of shine to the surface and reflecting the blues in the cabinets and paintings. I love the look of a seaside cottage and this one is beautifully done. There are a couple more from previous posts HERE and HERE.

Schoolhouse Vintage

This restored 100 year old schoolhouse is full of gorgeous vintage style! From the moment you enter the home the pretty black and white tile leads you into wonderfully decorated space. The kitchen with a Smeg fridge (check out these Smeg fridges) and stove and has a white and grey painted floor and many wonderful little details...look at the little decorative iron piece over the top of the window. Such a creative replacement for a curtain valence!

For me one of the best pieces in this home is the gorgeous cabinet in the dining room.....oh so beautiful! It is such a large piece with such a small, simple base with a shabby finish...just perfect!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Simplicity

Looking through my tumblr photos today got me loving these fresh and flowing light summery clothes and beautiful simple interiors. It is so lovely to see a space with gorgeous architecture that is really shown off with the simplest of decor... and the same goes for fashion... sometimes less is more.  I think I could live in any of these spaces and in all of these clothes....for today anyway :)!

Enjoy!
