Inspiration in White: Chevron Floors

I love the look of chevron or herringbone floors. First they are usually found in older homes...and often in places I like to visit....like Paris for example! The texture and warmth it gives to a space is fantastic and it looks really good in both white wash and deeper tones as well. I found so many great houses with these amazing floors! Here are a few homes I blogged about that have them HERE and HERE!

Enjoy!

Handmade Home

After searching for the perfect country home and not finding anything to their liking, this couple decided to build their own. Despite not having any experience they bought the land and then proceeded to build the country home of their dreams. Filled with items they made or found vintage pieces this home is one they created together and they say they could not be happier with the results.....It is true it looks very welcoming and looks like a true family home! Love the green accents used throughout the rooms....

Enjoy!

French: Grey and White

This lovely home is in the countryside just outside of Paris. Finished in grey, white and neutral tones, the feeling of this home is calm and peaceful. Completely renovated from top to bottom, I think the couple that own this home did a great job with it. They also own a home decor store called "La Vie en Grey Mouse" or Life in Mouse Grey which really describes their own home all painted in Mouse Grey and white.  A mix of French and Gustavian styles, antiques and vintage, it captures so many of the elements I love in a home...

Enjoy!

Dream Kitchen

A group of bloggers, myself included, have been asked to write about our Dream Kitchen for Electrolux.....such an easy subject for me as I love drooling over wonderful kitchens and as a designer I just happen to be working on a couple at this moment, so I am definitely inspired!

My dream kitchen would be all white of course and a mix of vintage and modern in one space. I love a kitchen with open shelving and a mix of wood with the white. I like simple clean lines on the cabinets and I think my counters would have to be carrara marble and my backsplash in a wonderful simple white tile. I would need a little touch of French styling in the mix because.....well doesn't everyone need a little French style in the home? I think some vintage style lamps hanging above the island would be perfect to give it the exact mix I like.

Of course I would need wonderfully sleek and stylish appliances like the Suite Design from Electrolux. Vintage is important for your kitchen accessories but nobody wants a dream kitchen with old appliances! To create a beautiful, functional kitchen you need beautiful, modern appliances that compliment one another. Electrolux has a great range of refrigerators, cooktops and dishwashers that are so amazing that even I might feel like a real chef!

What about you? What would your dream kitchen look like? I would love to hear!

Enjoy!

Open style living in this great white home but what I find fun is the wood paneling or wood strips I am not sure....but it looks great. It really adds texture and interest to what is a very simple space. The wood floors and the wood used in the kitchen area add a nice contrast. The kids beds are just so cute in white washed wood and that little blue cabinet on the wall is adorable! So much to look at in each picture!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Shabby Couches

As I was taking a stroll through one of my Pinterest boards today I realized I have a bit of an obsession with shabby white couches. Picture after picture of rooms with cozy, comfy and cushy sofas mostly with a slipcover but some without. My own home has a big shabby sofa from Montauk and a huge chair as well and I love them. Full of feathers and so easy to curl up on and take a nap or read a book. I love the look of sleek more tailored furniture but nothing is more comfortable or easy to take care of than a big slipcovered shabby couch! That is my shabby couch in the last picture...

Home with Style

This is the very creative home of blogger and freelance stylist Johanna Laskey from Lovely Life. She not only blogs about stylish homes but follows her own ideas in her home by combining vintage and industrial into this very personal space. I love the light fixture hanging from the ceiling covered with tulle and how the doors are painted blue to add a nice pop of colour. She says they are like jewellery and add that final touch to the home. I think she is right!

Vintage and Modern Mix

This gorgeous apartment in Stockholm is a wonderful mix. The building is from 1915 and the furniture is a mix of amazing mid century vintage pieces with a few modern pieces. I really love the hanging lights around the space and especially over the coffee table in the living room. I had done another post of an apartment with a similar look with hanging lights and I think it is really clever......and what about the floor? Just so stylish..

Have a great weekend!

Country Style Home in Australia

Many elements to love in this cottage situated in the Tasmanian area of Australia. (Doesn't that sound so very outback!) The pretty painted floors go throughout the home and I am really stuck on those amazing entyway doors with the vintage bike in front! Great styling with the driftwood pieces over the table and the pewter platter is perfectly gorgeous. The kitchen is a surprise done up the a great shade of green in this little gingerbread style home. Very nice..

Enjoy!

Found: White Interiors

I had seen some pictures of this house on Facebook and had featured one of the pictures on my page but it was only recently I saw the rest of the home. This home was designed by Found Design and they also have a retail store in Mesa, Arizona.

First of all the house is so well done. The white, cream and taupe decor highlights the amazing beams and the height is used so well with the oversize chandeliers. The whole looks is softened with slipcovered furniture and pops of green plants and flowers throughout. I could move right into this home!

The store is just as gorgeous and gives this same cozy and natural feeling as the wonderful home they designed. Take a look at their website to get some great ideas for your own home.

Enjoy!
