Sophisticated Shabby Decor

What can I say about this house...so many good things....it is really fabulous! Sophisticated yet shabby it has all the elements I love in a white home. Great floors, painted in some rooms and some with the original wood colour, antique and vintage furnishings and architectural elements and an easy unstructured kitchen with a Smeg fridge! What about that amazing kids room....so creative and fun. Love it!

Hope you are having a great weekend! It is getting cold in Montreal and we even had a few flakes of snow today!

Enjoy!

Muskoka Living

Muskoka Living is a 25,000 sq ft retail and design space in Port Carling, Ontario. This is just one of the homes from their website and there are many more just as beautiful! Oh I really love this place! It is really just what I would want in a country home...or any home for that matter! So fresh and light, antiques and vintage and of course a car ( a Porche, not just a car) in the house. The choice of creamy whites and bright whites is just perfect with a touch of black and some shiny silver and grey. This should get your weekend off to a great start!
Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Swedish Style

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I have a love for Swedish or Gustavian style. My blog friend Catherine over at Gris Foncé  once emailed to ask if there was any place in Montreal where she could buy furniture and accessories in a Swedish style and I had to say...Noooo..not easy to find here in Montreal (she has a little post up right now about that conversation and her take on Swedish style here). I have also talked about how much I want a Mora clock and have had many conversations with Jo Lee from Swedish Interior Design, who sells a wonderful collection and has the most amazing home that I blogged about here. Truly spectacular!! I go over and visit his site to check out the furniture and clocks and pick out ones that I would love to have in my home.  So until I get the chance to collect some wonderful Swedish antiques I collect photos of my favourite Swedish homes here on Pinterest..

Enjoy!

Pale Grey with Modern Vintage

Oh this is such a great little space! It is one of those homes that when I go to write the title of my post I could use a list of words because it is such a mix of styles! Modern, vintage touches, a little shabby thrown in, industrial....and it is all good together. I love the light in the dining room and the pretty colour and cabinets in the kitchen. The super shiny floors are amazing and the bedroom looks so dreamy! I have been seeing a lot of this style of flooring similar to what is in the bathroom and in the entry. I showed it in a bathroom post here...really looks great.

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Ladders and Tools

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I always like the look of ladders and wooden tools around these shabby vintage homes. I have also seen them in more modern homes on occasion and thought how they add interest to a stark wall almost looking more like art than antique. I put a small ladder with books in my husbands office. It is a really cute old vintage ladder with some red paint on natural wood. I also have an old wooden shovel in the same office that gives the room a kind of old world feel. Lots of examples here of great ways to use a ladder in different rooms!

Enjoy!

Stylish Dreamy Home

One of my wonderful followers sent me a heads up about this fantastic home from Houzz....thanks Lisa! She was so right when she said this home is glorious....a really special place. This couple took six years to renovate and it was worth the effort. Some of the details I love...well to start the hanging lamp and ladder in the dining room. Aren't they fantastic? Also we have a glimpse of the garden table turned desk just off the sitting room. I would love a table like that! The birch railing and the numbers on the stairs are so great. Love these kind of little additions that make a home special....and of course the porch with curtains and a daybed. I could go on and on but I am having company for supper, it is three in the afternoon and I have not started cooking or preparing my table. Yikes! Enjoy your evening!

Enjoy!

Shabby Beds

It is funny how when I am looking for homes to share with you I seem to come across certain things over and over...like a certain type of carpet or a lamp that shows up in various homes over and over. It is not just things that I know are on trend...I think it is just like I am seeing something old as if it were new again.  Well I have been seeing this certain antique of bed in all different styles of homes and they are such shabby goodness I had to show you! They look amazing in a bohemian setting or super sophisticated...I love them in white but they look gorgeous in colour or in wood as well. My favourite is the first photo..oh so gorgeous don't you think.

Enjoy!

Hudson Valley Farmhouse

This 19th century farmhouse located at the foot of the Catskills was given a wonderful renovation into a simple, open, family friendly home. Wonderfully spacious with fun little nooks and cozy spots to curl up all done in varying shades of white and grey. Vintage pieces combine so beautifully with new and modern items all with clean lines and a distinctive Scandinavian feeling. The living room is one of my favourite rooms...I really like the white fireplace..I have never seen one like that! I also really love the camp cots as window bench..so cute and a great place to take a nap or read. Very nicely done!!

Enjoy!

Stylish Home in Brussels

This is the home of stylist and interior designer Muriel Bardinet. She also owns the antique store in Brussels called Dune 234. This home below was at one time an orphanage and a Japanese restaurant but you would never know by how much she has transformed the interior into a soft mix of vintage and modern pieces. Layers on layers of interesting pieces to keep the eye moving around each room. Things I really love in this house are the picture wall below and the dresser in the dining room. Just beautiful.

Inspiration in White: Bathrooms

You know what..I have never done a post about bathroom inspiration....at least I could not find one! I am going to redo my bathroom this winter and I am looking for some new ideas. I am pretty sure how I want it to look with grey and white tones and a grey wood vanity with a marble countertop, but I love looking for fresh ideas and there are so many gorgeous bathrooms on Pinterest. I wish I had a huge space but I have a rather small main bathroom so it will need to make a statement! It is so fun to have a big tub and a walk in shower like some of the photos below. So dreamy and romantic aren't they? What would your dream bathroom look like?

Enjoy!
