New Ceramics and Kitchens to Love

I have recently added some new ceramics to my Etsy site here...I am currently working with a new artist by the name of Marie-France Labrosse and she has created some wonderful pieces that I am now selling in my Etsy store. She has amazing talent and it is a pleasure to be able to get her work out there for people to see! When my pieces are in the process of creation and when they are being photographed (by Chloe Crane-Leroux) I always picture them in a certain setting...what kind of kitchen I see them in, what kind of table could I make with them and so on..which helps me imagine how the people will use them and gives me inspiration and new ideas. Here are some of the new ceramics in my store and a few wonderful kitchens that they would look great in...

Inspiration in White: Rustic Table and Food

I have a board for food styling on Pinterest and I really love the look of a rustic style for the table and for the food. I think these food and table pictures are perfect together and give great ideas of how to mix and match vintage plates and for setting the table! The look of a simple, easy table with this beautiful and simple food is so appealing. One of the things I like best about looking at photos of food styling though is the great ideas it can give you for cooking! Yummm..

Inspiration in White: Pastels

I love pastels so much and yes I have done many posts with pastels...but really pastels can be so shabby chic, so modern, so cool. When products are made in pastels, like lights, ceramics, chairs, Smeg fridges, well....I can't get enough. Surprisingly I don't have any pastels in my own home but the ceramics collection I am working on right now is in pale blue and pink...can't wait to get my samples completed! I also love some of the copper or brass lighting that work so well with pastels that you see in a few of these photos. Gorgeous!

Inspiration in White: Closets

One thing I always wanted was a big walk in closet. A place to fit all of my shoes, handbags and clothes...and well, I never really had one. I don't have a mini closet anymore like I did in my last house. In fact my closet was so small in my bedroom that my husband used that one and I took a slightly larger closet in the office....so each time I had to get changed I would have to run downstairs! My closet in our home now is not a bad size and I keep my clothes in that one and have all of my handbags and shoes in the closet in my office which is in the next room. At least this time I don't have to run downstairs! One day I will have one of these dream closets below....

Inspiration in White: Wooden Tables and Chairs

There are so many possible looks when it comes to choosing a table and chairs for the dining room or for the kitchen. Modern or mid-century, vintage or traditional they all look great and add a warmth to these rooms. I have been looking for a chair for my studio and the one in the first photo would be perfect! Such a fun vintage piece that would fit so well at my work table. I especially love the natural wood I am showing in these pictures but painted wood is always beautiful as well. I have a stained top on my wood dining room table, with painted legs so I get the best of both!

Small Space, Big Design

There is nothing in this modern house but pure design...no furniture, no accessories to talk about but I find it incredibly beautiful. The way it is built, how the light is allowed into the space and the simplicity of the design make this home by Japanese architect Kenjo Ido really something to see. I love how the walls have space in between them to allow the light from the roof top terrace to flow through the house and with the slanted walls and openings, create beautiful light patterns throughout the home. The stairs are another great feature as is the concrete kitchen island and bathroom with a sunken tub....wow!

Stone Cottage

This 19th century stone cottage in Southern Australia has really lovely details inside and outside the home. I just love the covered porch outside and of course all of the architectural details on the inside. Wonderful ceilings and moldings throughout the space make each room really special! The kitchen is also really fun with the blue dishes and the monogram on the door...I have never seen that before but what a cute idea!

Hope you have a great weekend planned!

Toffee, Black and White

I have posted about how much I love the look of black and white before and I have even talked about how great brown or wood looks with black and white......but toffee...well that is a really beautiful colour. The warmth of this tone...it really is very special...It can be wood, leather, copper, fur, artwork....really the list is endless. Here are some great inspirations.

Hope your pre-Christmas celebrations are going well! We have had parties and guests over so much this past week I feel a bit behind in my own Christmas prep and in my posting too! It is so fun though to have friends and family near us and I feel so grateful for all that I have. How are all of your pre holiday activities going?

A Life Less Ordinary : Part 2

On Thursday this week I featured Part 1 of this post on the book A Life Less Ordinary. In the first part I showed you photos from the authors store, I gigi, and today I would like to share some photos from their homes. As I said the other day I find the book incredibly inspirational and their homes...well they are amazing!

Inspiration in White: Rustic Christmas

There are so many great ideas to create a rustic Christmas on Pinterest (you can follow me here)! I have decided to do this style in my home this year and I am super excited to try some of these. I love the rustic table using nuts, herbs, feathers and candles. A few great ideas for wrapping presents and making gift tags with greenery. I love kraft paper and black ribbons... and what about the gift of cookies in a jar. So cute, easy and fun! Here is a recipe you can use to fill your jars! Also, add some pine cones and twigs to a rustic planter and fill it with candles...instant rustic decor!
