Black and White Scandinavian

So love this Scandinavian apartment! So inspired that I can see doing this in one of my clients homes. The couch is just perfect. Modern but still comfortable and the coolest of lamps beside it...also the coffee table is just so perfect! I would love to have one of these cross blankets from Pia Wallen... they are really beautiful don't you think?

Hope you are having a great week. Check out these Scandinavian beauties HERE and HERE..

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Raw Wood

There is something about raw looking, greiged wood that adds a kind of deconstructed feeling to a space. You would think that it would only work with an industrial look but not at all...it works as a contrast in any type of space and adds this incredible warmth. This look is not new but I am loving the way I am seeing it used all over Pinterest in the most unlikely homes. It could be just a touch as in the first photo or used on a wall, floor, in the furniture...really there are so many ways to use it and I am loving it!

Enjoy!

Inspiring Vogue Interiors

I follow Vogue Living on Facebook and they always post the most incredible homes. This first photo is brilliant. I have a headboard this exact shape and when I am tired of the neutral linen I have it covered in today I could totally slip-cover it. I had never thought about that (despite the fact that almost every other piece of furniture has a slip-cover)...I also love the trio of glass lamps over the table and the rustic dining room as well. What about the view from that gorgeous bathroom with the center tub and wall to ceiling tile...oh so beautiful!!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Laundry Room

Okay, now isn't the laundry room really one of the last places we think about decorating...but it seems we tend to spend so much of our time in there! It is not a place I like to hang out but if it looked a bit nicer maybe it would be less painful to do the laundry. So much fun to have a vintage looking space to do laundry like in these photos. Adding cute accessories is key...and of course a really good washer and dryer! Other good investments for the laundry room that make a big difference are: fun lighting (not something I would have thought about for the laundry room, which is strange because it is all I think about everywhere else in the house), a big table or folding space, a chair and some storage space!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Collections

I love to see what types of things people collect. I personally have a collection of tea towels (every kind from linen to cotton, white to colourful) different collections of ceramics (this includes a collection of Quimper from France and of course my own pottery) and various other smaller collections throughout my house (mercury glass and Bartlett prints to name just two more). There are just so many things you can collect...really the list is endless! Buttons, trophies, benches of all sizes, plates, ceramics, string, ironstone, chandeliers (one of my personal favourites)...I can just keep going..

What is really fun is deciding how to feature your collections and there are so many ways to show them off. Of course to get the full impact of the collection it should be shown together...the key is to be creative and think outside the box a little. What I like about some of the photos below is that it is not important what the collection is, such as the watering cans, but the way it is put together that makes it so spectacular! What do you collect?

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Favourites

For Inspiration in White today I am posting some of my favourite rooms that I have seen recently on Pinterest. (You can follow me on Pinterest HERE) I am always inspired going through photos on Pinterest. I find many new bloggers to follow this way and get ideas for rooms I am working on for clients and for myself. I am always amazed at what great ideas people have and what you can learn on Pinterest! There are so many subjects I put on my "Ideas" board that I think "I am going to use that later for sure". I may never use most of them but they inspire me anyway....

Also, don't forget that Google reader is closing tomorrow but you can still follow me on bloglovin!

Inspiration in White: Black and White

The effect of black and white in decor can be so dramatic, daring and chic. The neutral and timeless look of black and white looks so gorgeous in fashion why wouldn't it look just as fantastic in your home. There are so many ways to use this combo to create the drama as you can see in the collection of photos below. Black furniture against stark white walls, black and white tile, black and white images on the wall or black and white lighting. Two of the blogs I go to for great black and white looks is Vogues Paris and Emmas Design Blogg. Both very talented bloggers with incredible taste. Here are a couple of other homes I have posted about with black and white decor....here and here.

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Open Shelving

When I moved into my house the kitchen had already been renovated but if I was redoing it today I would put in lots of open shelves. I could show my collection of ceramics..(oh don't worry I have a lot displayed on open shelves in the dining room!!)..or ironstone (which I totally love....a new collection perhaps?). I think the look of open shelves gives such a relaxed feeling to a room and.....when shelves are filled with a vintage ironstone collection, as so many of these photos are, the effect of the different whites together is gorgeous!!

Inspiration in White: Simplicity

Looking through my tumblr photos today got me loving these fresh and flowing light summery clothes and beautiful simple interiors. It is so lovely to see a space with gorgeous architecture that is really shown off with the simplest of decor... and the same goes for fashion... sometimes less is more.  I think I could live in any of these spaces and in all of these clothes....for today anyway :)!

Enjoy!

Found: White Interiors

I had seen some pictures of this house on Facebook and had featured one of the pictures on my page but it was only recently I saw the rest of the home. This home was designed by Found Design and they also have a retail store in Mesa, Arizona.

First of all the house is so well done. The white, cream and taupe decor highlights the amazing beams and the height is used so well with the oversize chandeliers. The whole looks is softened with slipcovered furniture and pops of green plants and flowers throughout. I could move right into this home!

The store is just as gorgeous and gives this same cozy and natural feeling as the wonderful home they designed. Take a look at their website to get some great ideas for your own home.

Enjoy!
