Inspiration in White: Displaying Pictures

There are so many inspirational ways to display your pictures, photos, paintings and even collectables. I love it when there is a mix of all of these on a wall just as much as I love a traditional gallery wall. I like to use washi tape, as in some of these pictures, or mix frames and photos held with washi tape on a wall. I also love to plaster my inspiration board with photos or line frames on a thin shelf, which I have done in my office. In my husbands office here at home we have done a full gallery wall which looks amazing....in fact I have many pictures throughout my home all put up in varying ways. Some are even done the old fashioned way..one at a time with a wire and hook! Some other examples here are pictures hung with clips or making your pictures into a shape like you see with the heart...so sweet!

Enjoy!

Interiors: House Plants

House plants have really come back into style as evidenced by what we see in these beautiful pictures. From succulents to Ficus trees there is such a variety of wonderful plants that work with the many different style of rooms. Personally I have just a few plants around my house as I am more of a fresh flower person. I don't have much of a green thumb...but I really would love to have one of these Fiddle Leaf Ficus plants (5th picture). Apparently they are very hardy plants and can withstand someone like me who tends to forget they have plants! They give the room a wonderful earthy almost exotic look don't you think...actually all of the plants do!

Enjoy!

Mansion with Character

This old mansion in Krakow Poland has been renovated to showcase the best of it's beautiful features. The open feeling with all of the wood beams makes each angle interesting and the rooms so unique. Even the crisscross of the railings on the second floor blend in with the movement of the beams...so clever. In the kitchen I love the use of the metal bars on the ceiling.. a really nice use of repetition on the crisscross in the house. The pale, natural fabrics and reflective tile and lighting really gives this home such character. Don't you love the bathroom in this house? Really well done...

Enjoy!

Hudson Valley Farmhouse

This 19th century farmhouse located at the foot of the Catskills was given a wonderful renovation into a simple, open, family friendly home. Wonderfully spacious with fun little nooks and cozy spots to curl up all done in varying shades of white and grey. Vintage pieces combine so beautifully with new and modern items all with clean lines and a distinctive Scandinavian feeling. The living room is one of my favourite rooms...I really like the white fireplace..I have never seen one like that! I also really love the camp cots as window bench..so cute and a great place to take a nap or read. Very nicely done!!

Enjoy!

Mixed Styles in this London Home

This London home has some really interesting features but almost feels as though the rooms are from different homes. A very relaxed kitchen and eat-in area (love the little stove nook) with white washed plank floors gives way to chevron floors in the hall and fun kind of kooky accessories. A pretty living room gives way to a sleek styled office and the upstairs features...well a combo bedroom/bathroom that is really quite amazing! Not sure how I would feel about having a tub in the middle of the room...would you like that? Certainly a showstopper no?

Enjoy!

Interiors: Designer Katty Schiebeck

The wonderful interiors of Katty Schiebeck can be seen on her blog Somewhere I Would Like to Live. She is a designer living in Barcelona and her homes are done with a super mix of sleek and warm, vintage and modern. Love the materials she uses combining metals and woods.....what about the wonderful different whites that are combined in this room below. So important to combine creams, whites and greys in a home so selecting what colour you put on the walls is really important!. I will do a post soon on all of my favourite colours!!

Simple Beauty

Well it is back to work tomorrow...hope you had a lovely weekend! I had a great one...today my daughter and I went to the Botanical Gardens in Montreal and saw the International Competition of Living Sculptures called Mosaicultures. Really it is beyond words..I will put up a couple of pictures tomorrow but if you are following me on Instagram you can see a photo on my feed here..

Now lets take a look at this wonderful, simple home that has some great details...first take a look at the wood floor! Love the wide planks on the ceiling as well and the bathroom has a super looking wood counter. Not sure it would be that easy to take care of but it looks great. I also like the pale green on the outside windows. Very soft and fits with the style of home and the surroundings very well don't you think?

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Bathrooms

You know what..I have never done a post about bathroom inspiration....at least I could not find one! I am going to redo my bathroom this winter and I am looking for some new ideas. I am pretty sure how I want it to look with grey and white tones and a grey wood vanity with a marble countertop, but I love looking for fresh ideas and there are so many gorgeous bathrooms on Pinterest. I wish I had a huge space but I have a rather small main bathroom so it will need to make a statement! It is so fun to have a big tub and a walk in shower like some of the photos below. So dreamy and romantic aren't they? What would your dream bathroom look like?

Enjoy!

Light and Bright

This is the home of the owner of Sukha in Amsterdam. She has a gorgeous shop that features much of what she shows in her home. Chunky knits, cotton and pale beautiful wood are shown in every room. So dreamy and casual, I just love it. This is a style of home I could live in....super easy, clean lines and natural fabrics. Typically Nordic and modern in the taste level but with a warmth and comfort that is so appealing.

I can see my own ceramics in a home like this with the organic materials and feeling of the line fitting in so well with this look. Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Enjoy!

A Place in Paris

Hello weekend! Well this post is a nice way to end the week...a little Paris apartment from Veranda magazine for you. So pretty with all of the blue jars in every room. I have blue and white vases and jars in my living room and I really love this look. Such a beautiful mix of antiques in this home and of course with the amazing floors and walls...superb.

Hope you have wonderful plans this weekend. It is apple picking time here in Montreal and the weekend is supposed to be warm and beautiful so a little wandering through the orchards would be good fun....

Enjoy!
