Mix of Style in Spain

This gorgeous house, photographed by Enrique Menossi, has a really relaxed style. At first it felt French to me but after looking through the photos a few times there is a real mix and that is what I love to see! A little French, a little Gustavian, a bit of Moroccan style (what about that bath!)...but not to much of a Spanish style at all. I love the bedroom with the dainty bed...oh such a crush on that room....with the heavy curtains, the bed layered with covers and that high ceiling! I also really like the little boys room, that could easily be a little girls room.... So beautiful with the draping on the bed.

This home is such a good example of how versatile decorating in white really is! It applies to every style and elevates the elegance and beauty of every space!

Enjoy!

Victorian Cottage

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

This is an old Victorian cottage in England but looking at it from the view of the modern gorgeous kitchen it does not look old or Victorian! Pale greens and blues highlight the open space and match the wonderful colour from the outdoors that is really brought into the room through these incredible folding doors. I would love to have such large doors open to the terrace in my home!

Once you get into the other rooms we start to see the character of the old house. Some of the great features in this space...well the bathroom is simply beautiful! Love the sink with the amazing mirror above and of course the dressing room would have just about enough space for my clothes...perfect. Have you noticed how many large white mirrors they have in this home? Just about enough to even satisfy my love of mirrors....

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Natural Home

So what is a natural home anyway? Well, for me it is a home with lots of natural elements and earth tones....a home of great comfort and ease. It is full of grey tones, whites and neutrals with natural stone and wood, linen and fur. There is something so easy in a home like this that you feel comfortable immediately. The furniture must be relaxed with slouchy white couches, low stools and cozy blankets. Linens and baskets, especially these basket lamps, add the finishing touches as do the cotton rugs on the floor. Really so easy and relaxed...love it.

Enjoy!

Storybook Home

This house looks like it is straight from a storybook with the thatched roof and wonderful garden but it is actually a 200 year old home near the border of Denmark. Beautiful flowers surround this property and open windows bring the fantastic light into the interior spaces. So pretty and feminine with a real Gustavian style in the rooms that fits perfectly with the look of this home. The house is so lovely with accents of red and green throughout and of course there is a perfect Mora clock in the corner of the living room! The painted floor in grey and white is a wonderful added touch. What a dreamy home don't you think?

Enjoy!

White in Sweden

This is such a great apartment in Sweden. All white with many of the traditional Swedish touches....gorgeous tiled fireplace, all white wood floors and wonderful moldings. There are several features I really like in this apartment and the first is that every room is off the central hallway. I also love the barn doors that separate the office and living room and did you see that cool trompe l'oeil of the door. Soo cute. The oddly shaped kitchen has also been well done and did you see that interesting fan over the stove? That is new for me I have never seen anything like it! Of course I like Swedish style so much and have blogged about it many times. Here are a couple of other posts with Swedish apartments HERE and HERE...

House with a View

A stunning view is what sold this couple on this California property and I can see why! So gorgeous and so is this home...amazing. Wonderful rooms that look out to the sea all done in varying shades of pale. Large doors throughout the house bring the outside in and give it a real Mediterranean feeling. White washed wood, beams and shutters just add to make this home feel cozy and calm. The island counter in the kitchen is one of the best spots for me as is the master bedroom. How I would love to wake up to that view in the morning! Then there is the beautiful terrace..... Here are a couple of other California homes that I love..ONE and TWO.

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Kids Rooms

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

When my daughter was growing up we went through many decor changes in her bedroom. She would get tired of the decor at about the same time I would and I pretty much let her have her way when it came to picking colours and decor after about the age of 7 (just some small help from mom). The one difference for her was she loved colour..of course! Don't all little girls love colour? So her room went from yellow, to pale pink (the princess phase), to blue, to pink again (her bohemian phase) and now to...you guessed it...white! Now, at 19, she loves all white and has done up her room in an industrial style with white, black and natural. I love it and it looks great with the rest of the house. I prefer white rooms even for young kids because I think there is so much you can do with colour in the accessories. Here are a few that I really like in white and some great bright colours...

Blue and White Mix

These photos are all of one small room but there are so many fun ideas here! First, I love blue and white and have a lot of it in my living room. Second, I love the mix of patterns which start at the door with the two market baskets with blue stripes...so cute! Next, the pillows are just beautiful and mix and match so well, really creating a nice statement. The rug adds another pattern into the mix but its not too much at all. Lastly the quilts on top of the armoire with still more pattern...but it really works. The three tables, the two white and the metal table also look super. Take a look at a couple of other blue and white posts HERE and HERE.

White House by the Beach

This pretty white house has beautiful white concrete patios and shiny white wooden floors inside. There are no doors in the house except to the bathrooms leaving an open, airy space..perfect for this home as it is near the beach. I love the built in benches on the patio and the contrast of the white outdoors with the blue of the pool. Inside, the decor is light and simple but with big impact. Such a good idea to put the fur on the dining room chairs. Makes a statement and is cozy as well. Also the touches of blue throughout the home continue the theme from the outdoors.
Here are a couple of other beach houses to look at HERE and HERE....

Inspiration in White: Collections

I love to see what types of things people collect. I personally have a collection of tea towels (every kind from linen to cotton, white to colourful) different collections of ceramics (this includes a collection of Quimper from France and of course my own pottery) and various other smaller collections throughout my house (mercury glass and Bartlett prints to name just two more). There are just so many things you can collect...really the list is endless! Buttons, trophies, benches of all sizes, plates, ceramics, string, ironstone, chandeliers (one of my personal favourites)...I can just keep going..

What is really fun is deciding how to feature your collections and there are so many ways to show them off. Of course to get the full impact of the collection it should be shown together...the key is to be creative and think outside the box a little. What I like about some of the photos below is that it is not important what the collection is, such as the watering cans, but the way it is put together that makes it so spectacular! What do you collect?

Enjoy!
