This incredible house in Iceland is so cool with the icy white against the grey. I think if I was ever to get rid of my white walls, this is the colour I would do....as you know I love grey and I find the white pops so well against this colour. There are so many ornate touches with the carved mirrors, the crest on the fireplace and the gold on the bed. The mix is so well done, barn, French, Scandinavian..but it all works. The kitchen is simply sublime with the small settee, large mirror and the two side tables..LOVE it!

I love candles and have many glowing around the house daily. I prefer floral fragrances but in winter I tend to go with a more woody scent. I love mercury glass containers but what I am really looking for is simplicity in the look of the candle. Here are a few ideas for you to buy as gifts (these are so cool because you can personalize them or find one for Valentine's Day that is just around the corner) or for setting a mood at home...

The East Village loft of designer John Derian was a makeunder project and not a makeover. His desire to keep the original patina of the place is evident in the walls and floors of this former garment factory. Rather than taking the typical approach of removing and replacing the old he has done a fantastic job of lightly restoring and even leaving certain elements that give this loft such character. The antiques and art in the living room are what I really love..

This lovely Victorian cottage is decked out in old pinks, vintage treasures and draped in gorgeous light from the tall windows. Each room has so many unusual and interesting finds that I can not stop looking at the details to see how this effortless styling was created. Some of my favourite parts of this home are the slipper pink chair in the sitting room, the tall lamps on either side of the mirror and the bed in the child's room! So different and fun for a kids room don't you think?

This loft in the center of Brooklyn was once an old rundown factory but this couple could easily see the potential through the dust and rugged finishing. They incorporated their furniture from Sweden and London mixing with buys from New York. The result is very fun, clean and eclectic set against white walls and the background of the city. Well done!

This adorable cottage looks like it should be on the beach with trails of sand coming in on wet feet! White from floor to ceiling with touches of colour the house has a wonderful relaxed feeling. Things I am loving are the simple sheet thrown over the couch as a slip-cover, the gorgeous beamed ceiling and the pretty grouping of mirrors on one wall and antlers on the other! The kitchen is great with rough wood cupboard doors and open shelving over the counters. Really just perfect..

There are so many ways to use beautiful and interesting shaped baskets around the house. I just got some new Market Baskets in the shop and I just love all of the different ways you can use them or any basket for that matter. Great for firewood, pillows and extra throws, flowers or for really going to the market (much nicer looking than another recycled bag!). The gorgeous home (from the latest issue of Est Magazine) of architect and designer Eva van Dongen and Freek Tromp, was once inhabited by two notorious doyennes of the red light district in Amsterdam. No signs of its history is evident in these beautiful and spare rooms filled with light. White furnishings and walls contrast the wide planked dark floors to great effect. What a lovely peaceful space for this young family..
