Rustic Charm in the French Countryside

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

This is the country home of a couple with two children about an hour away from Nice in the South of France. I have been to Nice a few times and I love the area. The home was basically a barn when they bought it and began renovating it. They turned it into a cozy family home filled with wonderful Ikea pieces while keeping all the rustic charm of some of the original features of the barn. I love the fact they have kept solid doors in the house to a minimum and put curtains instead to keep the flow very open. The glossy white kitchen is a great contrast to the stone shown throughout the house and the kitchen table fits perfectly with the indoor/outdoor vibe of the home...but my favourite part is the pale green of the shutters on the exterior...so perfect against the stone don't you think? Check out other homes that I have posted about from Ikea Family Live HERE and HERE..

Enjoy!

Vintage Summer Cottage

Pretty details in this summer cottage that I find really warm and inviting. Take this cottage and put it near any beach and it would fit right in. It reminds me of one of the cottages we stayed in during our summers in Ocean Park, Maine. Fresh with white paint and floors, lots of great vintage details like the lamps in the kitchen and easy rag rugs on the floor complete the relaxed summer feeling. I could see myself leaving sand from the beach trailing through this home! Lavender surrounding the porch and a wonderful outdoor shower just give this home the added touch!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Natural Home

So what is a natural home anyway? Well, for me it is a home with lots of natural elements and earth tones....a home of great comfort and ease. It is full of grey tones, whites and neutrals with natural stone and wood, linen and fur. There is something so easy in a home like this that you feel comfortable immediately. The furniture must be relaxed with slouchy white couches, low stools and cozy blankets. Linens and baskets, especially these basket lamps, add the finishing touches as do the cotton rugs on the floor. Really so easy and relaxed...love it.

Storybook Home

This house looks like it is straight from a storybook with the thatched roof and wonderful garden but it is actually a 200 year old home near the border of Denmark. Beautiful flowers surround this property and open windows bring the fantastic light into the interior spaces. So pretty and feminine with a real Gustavian style in the rooms that fits perfectly with the look of this home. The house is so lovely with accents of red and green throughout and of course there is a perfect Mora clock in the corner of the living room! The painted floor in grey and white is a wonderful added touch. What a dreamy home don't you think?

Shabby Kitchen

This is such a great example of a shabby kitchen. So many pretty elements here... beautiful collection of plates with a gorgeous butcher block with drawers below and a really pretty lamp beside (love that lamp!). I like how one cupboard in the kitchen is green for a pop of colour and then carried through with some of the accessories. What about the vintage blue cart with the little blue step stool beside it...so nice. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Here are a few other shabby homes.. one, two, three..

Enjoy!

Schoolhouse Vintage

This restored 100 year old schoolhouse is full of gorgeous vintage style! From the moment you enter the home the pretty black and white tile leads you into wonderfully decorated space. The kitchen with a Smeg fridge (check out these Smeg fridges) and stove and has a white and grey painted floor and many wonderful little details...look at the little decorative iron piece over the top of the window. Such a creative replacement for a curtain valence!

For me one of the best pieces in this home is the gorgeous cabinet in the dining room.....oh so beautiful! It is such a large piece with such a small, simple base with a shabby finish...just perfect!

Enjoy!

Vintage Rustic Home

This is such an unusual home I am not exactly sure how to describe it....Rustic for sure with vintage style lighting and furnishings...but it is kind of kooky at the same time don't you think. The kitchen is made up of recycled pieces of wood but it is the pattern, texture and colour of the wood that makes it so amazing. Each room has hanging bulb lights which I love but it the dainty one in the living with the fringed shade that is really sweet....What do you think of this home?

Bohemian Eclectic

I have shown this living room picture before in the Floral post here, but I wanted to show you the whole apartment as I find it so inspiring. There are so many elements that I would love to add to my home...like the rug, the rustic ceiling light, the steel stag head and the leather lounger.

The hallway looks great with the metal table and the two mirrored drawers on either side of the door. The bedroom has a cleaner feel but with a bit of sparkle. It is fun and eclectic with a bit of a bohemian touch throughout.....Thanks to Lonny Magazine for sharing another great home!

Enjoy!

All White Beach Cottage in Sweden

This little beach cottage in Sweden is just adorable and sooo simple. I have shown a few beach homes before, here and here, that I love... but what is great is how each can feel so unique. It does not take a lot of money to make a home look great or to create that, bring sand in on your feet, feeling...the others are much more "decorated" with a richer feel but this little cottage could be in Maine or on Vancouver Island and be just perfect as well!

Swedish and French: The Perfect Pair

I always love the diverse styles of all of the houses I post on lookslikewhite but occasionally there are homes that I simply die for....and this would be one of them. These are houses I look at and my heart beats a little faster and that I could spend hours looking at. A couple of my other faves are here and here......

The reason I love this house is that it pulls together two of my favourite styles, Swedish with a mix of French Country. The rooms all look so warm and inviting...each piece of furniture is thoughtfully used and fits beautifully in the space. Then there is the mix of creams, whites and golden tones that looks so easy to pull together but only looks really wonderful when done with a practiced eye.

The photos are very artfully done by the wonderful photographer Enrique Menossi. You must visit his site to see the amazing work of this talented photographer!

Enjoy!
