Interiors: White Rooms

The gorgeous home (from the latest issue of Est Magazine) of architect and designer Eva van Dongen and Freek Tromp, was once inhabited by two notorious doyennes of the red light district in Amsterdam. No signs of its history is evident in these beautiful and spare rooms filled with light. White furnishings and walls contrast the wide planked dark floors to great effect. What a lovely peaceful space for this young family..

Inspiring Workspaces

I am always finding great workspaces that inspire me and I have decided to do a little office refurbishing in my own space. My office is in my home and even though it is very pretty there is way too much furniture going on in there. I am going to have to redo the room to be more efficient and organized. I have files in boxes, samples laid out on the bed in the room (a tempting place to have a nap on long days) and fabric in plastic bags.

I want to do one wall as an inspiration board. I have seen a few good ideas of how to do this simply and easily (check out the idea of creating borders with removable tape). I also want a more beautiful and stylish chair than I have currently and two gorgeous hanging pendant lamps above the desk. I have two barn lamps that I think will look really great.

I have shown you a few offices before (here) but below are a few new photos that I love and that are sure to give me the inspiration I need to get started!

Modern use of Wood and Brick

Beautifully designed home that keeps light flowing with windows all around the house and skylights on the ceiling. A mix of white walls with brick keep it from feeling too cold and the wide planked wood floors add to the warmth. All the fireplaces are double sided to continue the open plan throughout... very interesting use of space and materials I would say..

Elegantly Styled Loft

The loft of Wolfgang Behnken, creative director at Young & Rubicam, is a beautifully elegant space. Most rooms are very simple with minimal furnishings but nothing is done without thought. Each piece is part of his many collections that not only include furnishings but books and art as well. The library is full and disordered but he insists that he knows where each book is and that he can easily find what he is looking for...a true artist himself I think....

Eclectic Apartment Decor

The apartment of this young couple is exactly as it should be...young, fun and eclectic! Solid base pieces like the tufted couch are perfect to work off of (and are a good investment)...just add the creativity! Love all the Morrocan touches and the red floor in the bedroom and kitchen is fantastic played off the white walls !

Interior: Modern Neutrals

This wonderful apartment is all done in great neutral shades, white, black, taupe and grey but it is anything but boring! Modern design with a less is more attitude, makes each piece of furniture selected feel absolutely right in its place in this home. I am so loving the dining room table with the outstanding pendant lamp and those amazing Eames style chairs! The other trend I really think is great is the pendant lamp beside the bed. It adds such an interesting look to the bedroom and gets away from having the lamps on the side-table. Beautiful..

My 2012 Top Posts

It was only 6 months ago that I began my website and blog. Wow did that go quickly! Why did I start it? Well I wanted to share my love of home decor (and of course of all things white)! A passion I have had for many years and that I fulfilled one other time in my life when I had my own home decor boutique. I was lucky enough to help my clients decorate their homes with the treasures I had found and I am so pleased to be able to do that again as I move back into the design field.

My biggest surprise this year came from how much I love blogging and the reason is really because of you! I am amazed at the incredible support from everyone and love and read every comment that I receive.

Thank you for making the past 6 months so wonderful and I will continue to try to surprise and delight you through 2013. Let me know how I am doing!

Here are some of my Top posts of 2012!

My favourite post of the year was the Paris Home of Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier .

Greek Island Beauty with Paola Navone

This Creamy Cottage was a much loved post by me and you!

This lovely Gingerbread House...

And of course we all love Nina Hartmann's home and her books Vintage by Nina!

No year would be complete without a post on Shabby Chic!

And finally the most viewed and loved post was this beautiful Edwardian Cottage..

Wishing you the best for 2013! Health, success and happiness to all of you....

Copper and Light Loft

I simply love this apartment of Tanja Vibe, the owner of a graphic design studio called All the Way to Paris. The simplicity of the loft all in white and the gorgeous pops of colour throughout really speaks to me.....and what about all of the lamps. These copper pendants are amazing and add such great reflection to the room! Perfect...

Christmas in Little Italy

This swim wear designers beautiful loft in Little Italy in New York ( from Rue Magazine) is full of fun and quirky details that really give this home so much charm. I love the vintage finds combined with contemporary pieces making it such a personal space. The Christmas decor with branches by the fireplace and in the dining room add real drama to the loft and the garland hung throughout adds warmth.

Enjoy!
