Industrial Vintage Style

I really like the mix of vintage and industrial style in this wonderful home in Normandy, France (an area that I love!) So many great things in these photos including the big clock in the living room, the light bulbs in a basket and take a look at the lighting everywhere...so clever and fun! Every room has something interesting and imaginative to look at...I think they love their home and it shows in the care they took in each room...what do you think?

Dream Kitchen

A group of bloggers, myself included, have been asked to write about our Dream Kitchen for Electrolux.....such an easy subject for me as I love drooling over wonderful kitchens and as a designer I just happen to be working on a couple at this moment, so I am definitely inspired!

My dream kitchen would be all white of course and a mix of vintage and modern in one space. I love a kitchen with open shelving and a mix of wood with the white. I like simple clean lines on the cabinets and I think my counters would have to be carrara marble and my backsplash in a wonderful simple white tile. I would need a little touch of French styling in the mix because.....well doesn't everyone need a little French style in the home? I think some vintage style lamps hanging above the island would be perfect to give it the exact mix I like.

Of course I would need wonderfully sleek and stylish appliances like the Suite Design from Electrolux. Vintage is important for your kitchen accessories but nobody wants a dream kitchen with old appliances! To create a beautiful, functional kitchen you need beautiful, modern appliances that compliment one another. Electrolux has a great range of refrigerators, cooktops and dishwashers that are so amazing that even I might feel like a real chef!

What about you? What would your dream kitchen look like? I would love to hear!

Enjoy!

Home with Style

This is the very creative home of blogger and freelance stylist Johanna Laskey from Lovely Life. She not only blogs about stylish homes but follows her own ideas in her home by combining vintage and industrial into this very personal space. I love the light fixture hanging from the ceiling covered with tulle and how the doors are painted blue to add a nice pop of colour. She says they are like jewellery and add that final touch to the home. I think she is right!

Black and White Industrial

This black and white industrial space is put together exactly the way I would want to see a more modern home. A mix of very neutral tones with a few pops of great color. White ceiling and floors except in the bedroom where a black ceiling gives a bit of cozy where you want it. The bright yellow chair and cart are just the perfect little addition and so is the worn leather chair in the living room.

The posters on the wall and the cute pillow on the chair make a statement...literally...how fun is that? Great mix of old and new don't you think?

Enjoy!

Simple Beauty: White Decor

The simplicity of this cabin is so appealing. I am always struck by how some people can keep the minimal in their home and make it look stunning. I always put more instead of less and have trouble editing my home because I love everything so much. When I am in a clients home it is easy as I am not so attached to each of the pieces...so I am determined to simplify and this home is my inspiration.

Clean lines, modern furniture, white on white....no fuss and each piece becomes a statement...love it but could I live in it? What about you?

Enjoy!

Artists Loft

I wish I had lived in a loft at one point in my life because I think decorating and living in a loft would have been so much fun. I have an idea that when my daughter leaves the nest my husband and I will have an adventure and move into one.....mmm, we will have to see. In the meantime, I will have to find a client that needs me to decorate a cool, industrial loft space.

This one in Atlanta is the home of an artist that combines her live/work space in a beautiful way. What I find really appealling about this space is that the shell is really raw but the furnishings are more refined so it makes a great combination!

Soft Industrial

A few photos of this gorgeous space that I call soft industrial. It has great industrial elements but it is softened with chandeliers, flowers and smooth lines. The dining room table is simply perfect because it is not too wide and the wood is full of texture. A really lovely space!

Interiors: Restaurant Höst

Check out these pictures of the restaurant Höst by the architects Norm out of Denmark. I love how they used reclaimed wood and woolen blankets to create a warm and inviting environment. Who would want to leave this place? What the designers did was mix the feeling of eating outside on a Scandinavian farmyard with an urban, more minimalist decor. They also produced a line of tableware for the restaurant as well as design custom tables and seating.

The cuisine uses traditional ingredients of Nordic cooking made modern and new. Very much like the design of this wonderful space.

Loft Makeunder

The East Village loft of designer John Derian was a makeunder project and not a makeover. His desire to keep the original patina of the place is evident in the walls and floors of this former garment factory. Rather than taking the typical approach of removing and replacing the old he has done a fantastic job of lightly restoring and even leaving certain elements that give this loft such character. The antiques and art in the living room are what I really love..

Interiors: Brooklyn Loft

This loft in the center of Brooklyn was once an old rundown factory but this couple could easily see the potential through the dust and rugged finishing. They incorporated their furniture from Sweden and London mixing with buys from New York. The result is very fun, clean and eclectic set against white walls and the background of the city. Well done!

Enjoy!
