Inspiring Workspaces

I am always finding great workspaces that inspire me and I have decided to do a little office refurbishing in my own space. My office is in my home and even though it is very pretty there is way too much furniture going on in there. I am going to have to redo the room to be more efficient and organized. I have files in boxes, samples laid out on the bed in the room (a tempting place to have a nap on long days) and fabric in plastic bags.

I want to do one wall as an inspiration board. I have seen a few good ideas of how to do this simply and easily (check out the idea of creating borders with removable tape). I also want a more beautiful and stylish chair than I have currently and two gorgeous hanging pendant lamps above the desk. I have two barn lamps that I think will look really great.

I have shown you a few offices before (here) but below are a few new photos that I love and that are sure to give me the inspiration I need to get started!

Enjoy!

Interiors: Layers of Grey and White

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I have posted about my love for grey before but it is a love affair that continues so I need to share again....grey is not only perfect in the home but I love to wear grey as well. I have so many grey sweaters that my closet looks frankly ridiculous. (does anyone need that many grey sweaters). Grey, black, beige and white....pretty much like my decor. I love the depth of grey and how mixing different greys can look in a room. It is like white in the way that layers of different whites in a room can have so much impact. Take a look at a few spaces layered in grey and a few grey outfits as well....

 Enjoy!

Interior: Modern Neutrals

This wonderful apartment is all done in great neutral shades, white, black, taupe and grey but it is anything but boring! Modern design with a less is more attitude, makes each piece of furniture selected feel absolutely right in its place in this home. I am so loving the dining room table with the outstanding pendant lamp and those amazing Eames style chairs! The other trend I really think is great is the pendant lamp beside the bed. It adds such an interesting look to the bedroom and gets away from having the lamps on the side-table. Beautiful..

Enjoy!

My 2012 Top Posts

It was only 6 months ago that I began my website and blog. Wow did that go quickly! Why did I start it? Well I wanted to share my love of home decor (and of course of all things white)! A passion I have had for many years and that I fulfilled one other time in my life when I had my own home decor boutique. I was lucky enough to help my clients decorate their homes with the treasures I had found and I am so pleased to be able to do that again as I move back into the design field.

My biggest surprise this year came from how much I love blogging and the reason is really because of you! I am amazed at the incredible support from everyone and love and read every comment that I receive.

Thank you for making the past 6 months so wonderful and I will continue to try to surprise and delight you through 2013. Let me know how I am doing!

Here are some of my Top posts of 2012!

My favourite post of the year was the Paris Home of Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier .

Greek Island Beauty with Paola Navone

This Creamy Cottage was a much loved post by me and you!

This lovely Gingerbread House...

And of course we all love Nina Hartmann's home and her books Vintage by Nina!

No year would be complete without a post on Shabby Chic!

And finally the most viewed and loved post was this beautiful Edwardian Cottage..

Wishing you the best for 2013! Health, success and happiness to all of you....

Vintage Industrial Mix

This former country store was transformed into a very interesting home for this lovely Swedish family since 2008. They loved the fact that it was large, unusual and quirky and I have to agree! So quirky and certainly charming as well. I would say it is still a work in progress but is full of so much potential. They have a wonderful mix of industrial and vintage styles with a lot of Swedish style thrown in which we all know I love!

Lonny- Soho Loft

This gorgeous loft in Soho was designed by Jarlath Mellett a former clothing designer. Mellet says he approached the design of this loft from a fashion standpoint paying close attention to fabrics and even the stitching details. Using a mix of vintage and modern pieces and mixing wonderful textures make this space feel like it was put together over many years. Keeping to neutral tones the designer was going for an earthy and romantic feel and I think he achieved it!

Raw and Refined

You may have seen a few of these photos from Daniella Witte's apartment on Pinterest or Tumblr but I myself had never seen the whole home until today. Daniella is a photographer and her keen eye is clearly evident here in her own space. An industrial style that manages to feel very refined by combining rough surfaces with cozy furs, black and grey with warm woods.

Paris Factory Loft

I had seen one of these pictures on Pinterest and found the rest of the photos very recently. I love when that happens and I get to see the whole home. What I like about this is the big letters in the kitchen area and the loose, eclectic decor. I can imagine a young couple or students living in a space like this. Check out the barn lamps above the kitchen counter!

Inspiration in White - Lonny Magazine

I used to love the magazine Domino and was so sad when they stopped publishing a few years back. I even wrote to the publisher to express my dismay (which is not something I would normally do) but I could not understand how they could possibly close production! When Lonny the on-line magazine was started by one of their editors (Michelle Adams) I was one of their first followers as it really has a similar feeling to Domino. I am always super inspired by their ideas and the interviews and of course the beautiful interiors. I have picked a few photos from various issues to share with you for the Inspiration in White this week!

Enjoy!

Barn Lamps

I am loving the look of barn lamps just about anywhere in a home (yes I have mentioned this before in another post).  I am seeing these everywhere in photos and this week I found some at a dealer I work with here in Montreal! I picked up four of them to sell and they are beauties! Take a look at some shots I love with barn lamps.

The ones I bought are just like this.

Have a great weekend!
