I have been doing research for a design project I am working on and I had the idea to go and look at the website of Windsor Smith for inspiration. Well I certainly went to the right place! This designer has really incredible taste and creates the most chic, yet livable rooms. Really an outstanding talent...I could live in most of the homes she designs and feel really comfortable. What I like is that she can design in many styles, traditional, eclectic or classic but manages to keep her own signature running through her work. She keeps a nice mix of modern mixed with antique or vintage and even her most classic homes never look stuffy. Take a look at a few of her wonderful rooms here many from here own home...

House with a View

A stunning view is what sold this couple on this California property and I can see why! So gorgeous and so is this home...amazing. Wonderful rooms that look out to the sea all done in varying shades of pale. Large doors throughout the house bring the outside in and give it a real Mediterranean feeling. White washed wood, beams and shutters just add to make this home feel cozy and calm. The island counter in the kitchen is one of the best spots for me as is the master bedroom. How I would love to wake up to that view in the morning! Then there is the beautiful terrace..... Here are a couple of other California homes that I love..ONE and TWO.

Enjoy!

Cottage Renovation

This 150 year old cottage in Georgia, located on the river, has been completely renovated to showcase some of its original features. The ceilings throughout the home were opened up to reveal rustic beams and French doors open the home up to bring in the outdoors. The home is rather traditional in style but still has some inventive and unusual touches that keep it fun and interesting as well as a little bit rustic. All the rooms are done up in white, neutral and golden tones to keep the flow throughout the home.  I really love the brick covered patio area which would be perfect for warm summer evenings!

Enjoy,

Victorian Home Love

Where to begin talking about this amazing house? A renovated Victorian in San Francisco, this house is traditional, quirky, vintage and sophisticated all rolled into one. In the first picture there are so many things to look at! A stuffed peacock (really?), a bird under a cloche, a vintage clock and that is just the beginning! In the kitchen check out the custom hood (oh so gorgeous), the vintage stove and the new, yes new, fridge that looks vintage. The dining room has more antiques and vintage finds layered upon layer with the mirror and the statue and cool vintage bottles...oh I could go on. Did I mention the floor in the bathroom and kitchen? So great.

Take a look HERE for another wonderful Victorian home in San Francisco and HERE for one of your favorite Victorians that I featured..

The New Traditional

More traditional homes do not have to be stuffy and I think this home from Country Living is a great example of this. I would call it the new more modern traditional home with a bit of cottage thrown in to loosen it up.

Enjoy!
