Pins of the Week: Christmas

My first Christmas post of the year with a few ideas for decorating the mantle and the tree. No I have not put up my tree yet and actually I have not done much thinking about it beyond these few pictures. I realized I had better get at it when I passed through Target the other day to pick up a couple of things and saw that the Christmas lights that I liked were out of stock! Now I am on the move to get ideas and I love what I see here. Isn't that a lovely simple table for Christmas. So Scandinavian in feeling...actually all the photos have a rather similar simple yet cozy feeling to them....check out my Christmas pins here on Pinterest.

Blue and White Obsession

I have a few pieces of blue and white porcelain in my home and I really love it. I think it goes with every decor and fits into a neutral colour scheme perfectly. This is the home and personal collection of Furlow Gatewood, who is a been an influential member of the design community for many years. These photos that House Beautiful featured are from the book One Man's Folly (by Julia Reed and published by Rizzoli) and feature much of his amazing collection of blue and white porcelain. Now this is a collection! I love the blue and white stool in the first photo and the stunning ginger jars in all shapes and sizes. Plates, candleholder and vases fill out the rest of the collection, all set in the most beautiful home.

Layered Home with Pottery Barn

This is the gorgeous home of Pottery Barn Executive VP Monica Bhargava. Layers of textiles and decor fill each room brought in from her travels around the world and of course from Pottery Barn! I find it such an original space! Great mix of caramel colour with black and white throughout the home creates a unified theme but an incredible mix of pictures, lamps and home accessories keeps the eye moving from table to table, couch to chair. I just love the mix of lamps used in one space..not small lamps..really great oversized lamps! Finally take a look at the layered rugs in each room....Monica is a brave mixer of prints....check the zebra rug over the Persian rug. Perfect!

Enjoy!

Interiors: House Plants

House plants have really come back into style as evidenced by what we see in these beautiful pictures. From succulents to Ficus trees there is such a variety of wonderful plants that work with the many different style of rooms. Personally I have just a few plants around my house as I am more of a fresh flower person. I don't have much of a green thumb...but I really would love to have one of these Fiddle Leaf Ficus plants (5th picture). Apparently they are very hardy plants and can withstand someone like me who tends to forget they have plants! They give the room a wonderful earthy almost exotic look don't you think...actually all of the plants do!

Vintage Home

This wonderful 1820's cottage was redone in natural colours and vintage and French finds. This home just brings out all of my love for worn painted furniture and rustic decor! I love the different shades of grey on the walls and the pale pastel colours used in touches throughout the home..... I seem to be having a thing for pastels this week...and what about the incredible beamed ceiling! Oh I could go on and on..the column in the living room and the statue beside makes such a great corner display. The ironstone bowls running down the dining room table and of course the chandelier....ah yes. Super styling everywhere you look, every table has a little vignette that is incredibly well done. At the end of it all is a little tea house, formally a chicken coup, that sits in the garden....just perfect.

Stylish in London

This Hamptons style home is in London and has so many great details to love. Really fun dining room with the heart back chairs for starters. I love the letters and numbers throughout the home especially in the kitchen with the shot of red in the "A", contrasting with the beautiful grey they have put on the cabinets! It is fun on the stairs as well with the numbers going up the stairs. I think I have mentioned before how I had done this in my own home but with wood numbers that were rather thick...well I kicked those numbers off the steps so many times I gave up and tore them all off. Too bad because it looks so good! Have a good weekend all!

Well Edited Home

This home, owned by magazine editor, author and fashion designer Laurann Claridge, is simply elegant. Loads of texture and shine, it feels like such a fantastic mix of antique and modern, traditional and fashionable...Loving all the white furniture of course and the funky little surprises throughout the space...ahhhh,  a sheep in the library perhaps? Great rug in living room and such a cute headboard made from a four paneled screen in the bedroom. All of this is from the Lonny Magazine archives. Take a look at some more homes from Lonny here and here...

Interiors: Gorgeous Design

When you have incredible architecture with tall windows and beautiful moldings you could add just about anything to a room and it would look good...but when you add wonderful lighting and the most sophisticated furnishings it really becomes spectacular! Such a gorgeous room with a wonderful kitchen and dining room. Love the mesh Eames chairs and dark wood in the kitchen.....and yes I would love to have that closet please!! It looks so cool to have the single bulb in the kitchen which is such a contrast to the rest of the room. Love it...

Beauty and Simplicity

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

It has been a rather difficult week in my life and when life events happen you usually take time to reflect on what is important. Living life with simplicity, an open heart and love around you is really all that matters.

The beauty and simplicity of this space really touched me and is especially meaningful at this time. It is lovely to see small collections in the home that are precious to the person living there and make a space special.

These images were taken by Mikkel Vang for Vogue LIving and it is worth going to see his website and some of the other wonderful images he has shot. A true talent for sure.

Enjoy!
